Trek to Chandertaal is one of the most awesome treks that one can undertake in Himalayas. The barren towering mountains and then the beautiful clear water lake at such a height will surely imprint a beautiful memory on your mind. Covering an average distance of 8 km with a basic altitude of 4000 meters, two river crossings and thrilling scenery.
Chanderatal means the lake of Moon. Its situated in between a lower ridge and the main Kunzum range with an outlet into the Chandra river. You can view the beautiful Samudra Tapoo Glacier.
You can go till Batal (a tiny hamlet) from Manali on a jeep. There after you can trek to chandertal. Now adays I think you can drive till 3 Km off Chandertal if the weather and road conditions permit.
